eGameRevolution

ICHEG’s eGameRevolution^® exhibition is open at The Strong’s National Museum of Play. Free with general museum admission, this expansive, interactive, artifact-rich exhibit explores the history of electronic games and their impact on people’s lives.

Museum hours

The National Museum of Play at The Strong is open 363 days a year.

Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Museum closes at 4 p.m. July 4
and is closed September 21.

Admission fees

Admission to eGameRevolution is free with general museum admission fees.

The museum accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card.

College student discount

Two-for-one general museum admission is available to students with current college ID from Labor Day through May 31. (Both students must present valid ID.)

Research

Scholars, students, collectors, and other researchers are welcome to conduct research on site in the ICHEG lab or view the ICHEG Library and Archival Collections by appointment.

Appointments may be made via an online form, or by sending an email to jpdyson@thestrong.org. Please provide a topic of research, indicate the materials desired, and any special needs.

Directions to the International Center for the History of Electronic Games^® at The Strong

ICHEG is located at One Manhattan Square in downtown Rochester, New York.

By air

Guests flying into the Greater Rochester International Airport will enjoy short flight times—less than 90 minutes—from cities such as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Washington, DC. Once at the airport, a 10-minute taxi ride will bring you to The Strong, home of the International Center for the History of Electronic Games.

By car

Easily accessible from the New York State Thruway and regional expressways, The Strong is only one hour by car from Buffalo, 75 minutes from Syracuse, and approximately six hours or less from cities such as Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto, and Washington, DC.

• From the West:
  Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 47 (LeRoy). Take Interstate 490 East to Exit 18 (Monroe Avenue). At the first traffic light, turn left onto Monroe Avenue. Travel one mile to Woodbury Boulevard. Turn right into The Strong entrance.
• From the East:
  Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 45 (Rochester). Take Interstate 490 West to Exit 16 (Clinton Avenue/Downtown). At the first traffic light, turn right onto Woodbury Boulevard. At the next traffic light, cross Chestnut Street into The Strong entrance.
• From the South:
  Take Interstate 390 North to Interstate 590 North. Follow Interstate 590 North to Interstate 490 West. Take Interstate 490 West to Exit 16 (Clinton Avenue/Downtown). At the first traffic light, turn right onto Woodbury Boulevard. At the next traffic light, cross Chestnut Street into The Strong entrance.

By rail

The Rochester, New York, region has more than 60 weekly Amtrak passenger rail departures from downtown. The rail station is within a short drive or walk of The Strong.
